The Cookie Jar Recipe


3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Mix flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat spread and sugars in large bowl with mixer until fluffy.
Blend in eggs and vanilla, Add flour mixture, beating until blended.
Stir in variation of your choice,Drop by rounded tablespoonfulsonto ungreaed cookie sheets.
Bake at 325 for 8 to 10 minutes,cool 2 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets; cool on wire racks.
Variations--
chocolate chip- stir in 2 cups chocolate chips
Double chocolate Brownie cookies- mix 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa with flour mixture. Stir in 2 cups chocolate chips.
double chocolate mint brownie cookies--same as above except add 1-2 teaspoons mint extract.
Raisin cookies-- Stir in 2 cups either dark raisins, or yogurt covered raisins,or chocolate covered raisins.
Applesauce oatmeal cookies-- stir in 1/3 cup applesauce and 1 1/2 cups oats uncooked.
Peanut butter cookies--- mix 1/2 cup peanut butter with spread
Peanut butter N' chocolate chip cookies-- mix 1/2 cup peanut butter with spread and stir in 2 cups chocolate chips.
